Here you will find ideas and code straight from the Software Development Team at SportsEngine. Our focus is on building great software products for the world of youth and amateur sports. We are fortunate to be able to combine our love of sports with our passion for writing code.

The SportsEngine application originated in 2006 as a single Ruby on Rails 1.2 application. Today the SportsEngine Platform is composed of more than 20 applications built on Rails and Node.js, forming a service oriented architecture that is poised to scale for the future.

Check out my talk from Chaos Days Twin Cities, Game Days: Failing for Fun and Profit

Recently the awesome Leah Cunningham and David Hussman put on the first Chaos Community Day outside the Left Coast. They were kind enough to invite me to speak about running Game Days at SportsEngine. Thanks to DevJam, SPS Commerce, and Netflix for sponsoring the awesome event.

If you're unfamiliar with the concept of Chaos Engineering I encourage you to check out the Principals of Chaos Engineering or you can checkout my 2017 DevOps Days Charlotte Talk: An Optimist's Guide to Chaos Engineering

The two key highlights from Chaos Day for me were Nora Jones talking about Chaos Carol and The Business Case for Chaos Engineering, and the always awesome DevJam Fishbowl to end the day. I might have gotten a little triggered on one particular question, Root Causes in a Complex System are not a thing, sorry not sorry.

Here are my slides video to my talk Game Days: Failing for Fun and Profit:
